Acumatica 2025 Summit

I virtually attended the 2025 Acumatica Summit to keep up to date on the latest advancements in one of the leading Cloud ERP products.   In the past many “great new features” were long available in legacy products.  The Acumatica 2025  Summit showcased technologies surpassing the functionality of many competitors.

Artificial Intelligence Takes Lead Position

In just one year Acumatica has vastly improved its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) architecture.  With multiple executives talking about AI and placing this new technology at the core of its “business enablers,” Acumatica appears ahead of many of its competitors in putting AI in the hands of the customer.

Starting with John Case, Chief Executive Officer and Miten Mehta, Chief Engineering Officer on day one, most every presenter said something about AI.  Importantly, Jeff Smits, Chief Information Officer, discussed the importance of and steps Acumatica takes to protect customer data from unauthorized use.

I always enjoy  Mike Shchelkonogov, Founder and Chief Technology Officer presentations and was not disappointed at Acumatica Summit 2025.   Mike showed the AI Studio, live and in action.  The AI Studio allows individuals with good knowledge of Acumatica and a baseline of AI Concepts to build prompts and update data quickly and efficiently.    Although the demonstration showed simple data enrichments, Mike explained how powerful the tool can be in the right hands.

Customer Centric Editions

Acumatica has consistently impressed with its customer focus.  The customer is front and center of each of Acumatica’s six broad “industry solutions.”

  • Construction
  • Distribution
  • Manufacturing
  • Professional Services
  • Field Service
  • Retail

Day 2 featured spotlights on the advancements made in 2024 and what is coming in the just released 2025 R1 and future 2025 R2 editions.

Distribution

The distribution solution is core to much of the suite and is where Acumatica shines the brightest. Some of the exciting new features, like lot and serial attributes, have been available in legacy systems forever.  However, feature parity is almost complete with legacy software.   Acumatica’s distribution is great for digital transformation surpassing legacy ERP with many cloud native solutions.  Specifically, impressive features currently available or coming soon include:

  • Shopify integration was on display with amazing integration like customer specific pricing
  • Fulfilled by Amazon support.
  • Order Orchestration to simplify fulfilling orders from multiple warehouses.

Manufacturing

Acumatica’s manufacturing solution is not quite as mature or robust as some manufacturing oriented publishers.   It has come a long way and is awesome for discrete manufacturers who also distribute.  The materials requirements planning features are greatly improved, and sufficient for most mid-market customers.   Improved scheduling views with Gannt charts and the new user interface are intuitive and functional.  I am looking forward to what Acumatica can do with its AI engine and announced features including:

  • Shop Floor Kiosk
  • Advanced Planning and Scheduling

Professional Services

The professional services solution is relatively new to Acumatica.   Improvements accelerated through partnering for an integrated project management tool.  Improved project dashboards and scheduling tools make this a great solutions for services firms using a standard work breakdown structure with time and materials billing procedures

Acumatica Summit Key Takeaways

In 2024 Acumatica made “the cut” and selected more frequently than ever before.  Although unable to attend the breakout sessions or interact with executives at the Summit, the keynotes confirmed our 2024 experience and can expectations for 2025.  Specifically:

  • Acumatica cemented its position as a leading provider for distributors and light manufacturers in the small to mid market businesses (SMB).
  • Other industry solutions continue to improve at a rapid pace making Acumatica a contender in Retail, Construction and service industries.
  • Acumatica is taking the lead in “out-of-the-box” automation and integration due to its advancements and investments in Artificial Intelligence for SMB.
Where other ERP providers have great third party tools, and some have more advanced AI built into their products, Acumatica has a solid framework for SMB automation and integration.  Its approach provides the basic functions which can be supported today.   The AI toolset appears ready for practical customer and partner development. Acumatica is looking forward to AI changing the way we interact with our ERP,
